about

Written between 2014-2016, 'memento mori' is the previously unreleased second full-length album by hxw hxw.

It looks primarily on the Biblical story of Job, in which God encourages Satan to utterly destroy the life of one of his most devout disciples. Rather than ultimately seeing positivity in blind faith, this album instead dwells on the negative aspects. Baseness, existentialism, the human body as meat that collects, consumes, defecates, fails, and dies. Consciousness as insanity, religion as farce. If any god ever existed, it doesn't care about us, the insignificant grains of decay floating in our petri dish universe.

There is little hope of anything in this world besides the knowledge that we are all subject to the human condition. No future beyond the fate we all must face. Each of us is the same metaphorical sample, looping, endlessly repeating the same insane, pointless rush towards the inevitability of death.

about

hxw hxw London, UK

hxw hxw is an experimental, conceptual project that takes its name from the Greek nymph Ekho, who was only able to repeat words spoken to her, her own voice stolen away in a curse.

Only using audio samples gleaned from entertainment media such as film, television, and video games, hxw hxw questions the vanity of a consumerist lifestyle on which we are growing ever more dependant.
